The federal District Court in Washington, D.C. has ruled that a
nonprofit watchdog group has no standing to force the Federal Election
Commission to determine the value of a mailing list contributed
to a political campaign. It has held that the Citizens for Responsibility
and Ethics in Washington (“CREW”) has no interest beyond
that of the general public in the value of a list owned by Americans
for Tax Reform, a 501(c)(4) organization, transferred to Bush-Cheney
‘04.
