So much for Sarbanes-Oxley as a standard for nonprofits.
A Court of Appeal in California has ruled that having nonprofit organizations prepare and issue accurate financial statements in accord with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is not a fundamental public policy of the state which would justify a “public policy” exception to the doctrine of employment-at-will.
