Court upholds Executive Director’s dismissal
of staff who walked out after demanding her termination
A divided Court of Appeals in Washington has dismissed a claim for wrongful termination brought by employees of a nonprofit corporation who lost their jobs after they walked out when the board of directors did not respond to their ultimatum that the Executive Director should be fired. The Executive Director considered their action a group resignation and refused to take them back. (Briggs v. Nova Services, Ct. of App., WA, Div. Three, No. 24414-8-III, 11/14/06.)
