The Catholic Mutual Relief Society of America has been ordered to pay more than $16 million in damages to an 82-year-old man seriously injured in an automobile accident caused by a volunteer in a service program associated with a church in Milwaukee.
The volunteer was delivering a statue of the Virgin Mary to a parishioner as part of program of the Christ King Legion of Mary, a service program consisting of members of Christ King Parish, a church within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. She ran a red light and caused the accident.
