A charity formed to protect religious freedom and help free Catholic priests jailed in foreign countries has lost its challenge to the Tennessee charitable solicitation registration law. It has been ordered to pay $40,000 in civil penalties and stop soliciting until it complies with the law. The decision comes after 17 years of administrative and court proceedings.
