Court dismisses sex abuse case

A federal District Court in Delaware has dismissed a sex abuse case brought on behalf of a Delaware resident against the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and several other Catholic organizations in Wisconsin. The Court has held that it has no jurisdiction over the Wisconsin defendants, and that even it if did, the plaintiff did not show that they had any liability for the acts of an individual religious brother employed by the Archdiocese as a teacher in one of its schools. According to the complaint, the Delaware resident met the brother when the brother visited a mutual friend in Delaware and suffered the abuse in Delaware between 1974 and 1982.
