A federal District Court in Mississippi has refused a summary judgment motion to dismiss a nonprofit employee’s claims that she was wrongfully terminated after complaining about her boss’s possible embezzlement and that the organization had failed to pay her properly under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The woman was employed as Director of Operations of the Fine Arts Institute of Mississippi, an organization that ran charitable bingo operations and solicited funds to support arts education and live artistic performances.
