A teacher for a nonprofit charter school in Chicago has been permitted to proceed with his claims for wrongful termination after he reported an assault on a student in the boys’ locker room prior to gym class. The federal District Court in Chicago has denied a motion by the school for summary judgment to dismiss the case. The incident arose in November 2009. David Corral taught a gym class of 25-30 students, both boys and girls, who sat on the gym floor when they first arrived while he took attendance. They then went into the locker room to change while he went to his office to input the attendance in the school computer system as immediately required. He usually did this with a laptop...
