A federal District Court in Wisconsin has dismissed a claim for tortious interference with an employment contract brought by the Deputy Director of the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation who had been ousted from his job after losing a battle to prevent restructuring the foundation and its parent, the Marshfield Clinic. The Court said he had not pled a sufficient independent wrong to justify the suit. Stephen Wesbrook had fought the proposed restructuring for several years in support of the position of the foundation’s director in opposition to the effort by the Clinic CEO.
