A trustee and personal representative of the estate of the settlor of a trust has standing to enforce the terms of a charitable gift from the trust, an appellate court in Michigan has ruled. It has reversed a trial court decision denying standing to the trustee. Professor James A. Bellamy was a recognized expert in classical Arabic literature who taught at the University of Michigan for nearly 40 years. In 1998, following his retirement, he created an estate plan establishing the Bellamy Trust and a pour-over will.
