A federal District Court in West Virginia has ruled that an assistant U.S. Attorney’s liaison role with a nonprofit agency providing a witness in a criminal prosecution is not sufficient to disqualify the attorney or the U.S. Attorney’s Office from the case, even though the AUSA had been listed on the agency’s literature as a director of the agency. It has also said that a few small charitable contributions from other attorneys in the office is not sufficient to disqualify the office.
