Local church prevails over national in property dispute

When the Gashland Presbyterian Church in Missouri terminated its affiliation with the national Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (“PCUSA”) and the national’s Heartland Presbytery, Heartland sued Gashland claiming that Gashland held title to its church property in trust for the denomination. A trial court dismissed the case, and the Missouri Court of Appeals has affirmed.
