Watchdog lacks standing to force IRS rulemaking procedure
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a 501(c)(3) watchdog group, lacks standing to force the Internal Revenue Service to initiate a rulemaking procedure, the federal District Court in the District of Columbia has ruled. It has held that CREW fails all three requirements for standing to force the IRS to address a perceived conflict between the statutory requirements for qualification as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization and the existing IRS regulations.
