An employee who claimed to have filed a complaint with the state Attorney General’s office cannot claim protection from firing as a whistleblower when the supervisor who terminated her employment was unaware that she had complained to the AG, an appellate court in Minnesota has held. The issue arose when the employee challenged a finding that she had been fired for employment misconduct and was thereby ineligible for unemployment compensation benefits. The employee worked as a program director for Volunteer Services of Carlton County, a nonprofit that uses volunteers to provide food, clothing and other assistance for people in need.
